Cartoon facial expression experiment 1

carton face expressions how do you feel today?
inspired by a ‘how do you feel today’ poster I saw on a wall.
I wanted to see how many expression I could come out of my head with the same cartoon face. I created 20 expressions. Here is my ‘top ten’ it was very fun exercise. ‘acting out’ the expressions proved very useful. I didn’t use any refernces but rely on how it felt on my face when i made each expression. I tried not to ‘overdo’ them

A silly creativity app that give random creative ideas, suggested that I try a past idea and complete it. So what does this anthro fox chick have anything to do with that? Debra was a old character I was going to use is some comic. When i started drawing I just didn’t have the skills. When I did have the skill, I lost interest in cartoon animals and decided to draw robots and roger dean inspired landscapes instead. I art with foxes is over saturated on DA, everyone draws them for some reason almost as much as ponies. Yes she has a sarcastic disgusted look on purpose.

Woman in a V neck sleeveless shirt and plaid skirt

The concept a woman character after seeing a Japanese model with a crazy outfit, I toned it down a bit, More of a practice to get back into drawing woman again. She would fit well in a graphic novel or a comic book. I did the shading very light for this purpose. Not the most exciting pose but I I decide to carry on with her, I will drawing doing more exciting poses.

Bald Eagle Head Variations

bald eagle heads drawing painting concept art tonal comparisons

I was trying to figure out how to experiment with various eagle face beak and eye shapes. Then when surfing the net I saw some concept art for a RPG in which the artist had drawn a ‘base’ head and just experimented with different facial parts on that base head instead of drawing each face by scratch. That was pure genius, so I thought, why don’t I try that technique on my eagle?! I mind is blown on how useful this designing method works. I know concept artists have been doing this to the end of time, I feel kind of stupid for not discovering this earlier and trying this one my design work. I am also returning to tone (value) sketch such as this one. I feel encumbered by using solely lines in my sketches. Time to step up to the plate

Ezio from Assassian’s Creed 2 Line art

A somewhat quick sketch of Ezio, one of the main heroes in Assasian's Creed 2 and it's spin offs. A more cartoon style for Ezio. Again another difficult pose to attempt in y vain effort to stop myself from drawing characters just 'standing still'. the smokey thing in the background has no purpose. I might finish it. tell me what you think. drawn in photoshop
