Self Portrait (for real this time)

self portrait male Caucasian German blond hair blue eyes human

I painted this in Artrage. I figured out how to used the watercolor brush but halfway decided I didn’t like the look of it so I switched back to the oil brush. There is some mistakes, I made the nose a bit too long. I choose yellow as the color to paint with, it made me look like vampire so after I was done painting it I opened it in Photoshop and adjusted the hue of the painting to have a more natural flesh tone. . And it looks more like a young version of my dad then me. I still liked how it came out though.

Painted in Artrage with a Wacom Tablet then minor fix in Photoshop

I was almost tempted to give this post the title ‘Self Portrait as a Alligator’ to continue my silliness from my last post but decided against it.

Speaking of silliness: Deviant Art has now jump started a new dating service called ‘Deviant Heart’: A dating service for artist. This has to be a April Fools joke.. I hope..

  1. Nice self-portrait.

You inspired me to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I was using the small computer I bought for traveling and, if I use a bigger brush, there’s a time lag from when I draw a line to when it appears on screen. Therefore, I had to do it with much smaller brush sizes than I would have preferred. The paper size I chose was only a standard A4 size, so making it smaller really wasn’t an option. It looks more like a colored pencil sketch than an oil painting.
