Faux Movie Poster – Taurancaus

final-project-72dpi-6

I forgot to post this. It is a faux movie poster painting I did as a final project in one of my art classes. The assignment was a movie poster. I love the posters of the old science fiction movies. They are meticulously painted and composed. It’s so different then the the movie posters today, where the designer cuts and pastes some photos of the stars in Photoshop, adds a lame effect filter and calls it a day. I used my family and a 3d model of a woman for this painting. It took about 8 hours to complete. I notice my Metal Slug sketch I did last night has a similar set up (three heroes in the front, the villain super large in background) but a different composition.

Serpent wrapped around a city – iPad sketch

A interesting doodle I did while traveling. A large dragon like serpent has wrapped himself around a towering city. Might make a good finished illustration in the future. Created on a iPad with Procreate.

Wyvern iPad sketch

Had some time to kill while waiting, so I drew a wyvern on my ipad using the app Procreate. I no longer have a stylus so the last couple ipad sketches I have used my finger. It’s strange drawing with your finger. Time spent 1hr. Software used: Procreate.

Asgaut the Viking – Page 3

Viking acton comic anime page 03 hero sapped by lighting

The third page in my comic short story. A little looser line then I usually draw. Just realized the the top three frames are not needed. It’s fun to figuring stuff out when approaching each frame. Repeated the same frame but put a different action in each frame. Gives it a movie like feel. Like my lame Onomatopoeia?

Jackal warrior with crossbow

anthro jackal furry warrior armed crossbow magic bolts aimin weapon looking at viewer

I’m trying to build up my portfolio and apply techniques I learned in the past 4-5 months into my newer paintings. This painting has a lot of firsts. It’s is the first attempt that I have made to take one of my black and white paintings and make it into a color painting using adjustment layers for segments and then painting over it. The first time I attempted to render fur without using a smudge tool, instead i drew every single hair. The first time I drew a person holding a firing weapon let alone a crossbow. I spend a lot of time researching the pose and the crossbow weapon. I was so ignorant about the crossbow that it didn’t realized it used bolts instead of arrows. I also wanted to attempt a secondary lighting source. which was the blue flame on the bolt. I spent about 11 hours total on the painting and 3 of that was sketching and researching how to make the jackal hold on to the crossbow. I am happy with it but something nags a me that there is something I could add to it to make it even better. Let me know what you think.
