Later Gator
Another T-shirt design. It was originally a quick sketch but I liked it so much, that I colored the gator in Photoshop. It’s a bit more raw then my previous design as my sketch marks show though, but I like how it came out.
If you actually like the design enough to wear it, you can purchase it here: http://www.redbubble.com/people/maugryph/works/10754317-later-gator
Alex the Alligator 3D Model WIP
I try to tackle too many things at once. Here is Alex, he is a gator that has hair!!!! (there is a reason for this in the story :D) He is the co protagonist for ‘Alex and Cruz”. The tail need to be finished hand have those bumps on them that crocs and gators have. His shirt design needs to be more elaborate. And he needs his scales painted an so forth.
Since I used parts from other the other models I made, I spent about 2 hours on him.
Gator merchandiser sketch
More character ideas. I’ve been trying to give each character a little story so they are more interesting. This is a alligator merchandiser.
“There once was a gator merchandiser. He resets the shelves at local stores. He always got stuck with resetting the freezer sections of the store. One day he got stuck in a freezer and froze to death. The end”
Ok. So Maybe I exaggerated the freezing to death bit 🙂

Alex the Alligator Character Concept Art
Alex the alligator is a character I have designed for a comic /animation hybrid that I am working with a friend to produce. The character’s personality is based on my own. It was a interesting challenge to draw a friendly/geeky looking alligator. Funny animal alligators are usually portrayed as bullies. It’s going to be fun to bash stereotypes with this comic. Originally he was going to be a dragon but we decided for the projects to use only real animals. He has a dragon look in him still. My friend chose a cheetah for his character. A fat cheetah, that’s going to be interesting.
Update: I decided humans are better for this project at this time. He looks a lot like my dragon character Chris.
Alligator Portrait
Since starting this head a day painting exercise about a month or two ago, I have painted the heads in greyscale or a single color. This is my first full color portrait in the series. It is of one of my favorite reptiles, the alligator. After seeing these awesome creatures at my local (as in a hour away :O) zoo, I just cant stop drawing them. The first thing I realized about gators is that there is no green in the alligators scales ( the green on the alligator’s chin and neck in this painting is actually bounce light from the grass below him) and how the scales are more of a brownish blue/gray color. I painted the teeth last. It was amazing how friendly the alligator looked without his teeth. After painting the teeth however, well lets just say I would be keeping my distance. Did you know the muscles in a alligators jaws to open it’s mouth are so week that a person could hold the mouth closed single handed without any effort? However the muscle to close it’s mouth are as strong as a vice. One thing is for certain… I won’t be trying it.

Self Portrait
Just kidding :D. The name for this painting is ‘Later Gator’. Originally this was going to be a portrait of a alligator similar to the crocodile portrait I have painted before. But after a frustrating start IÂ became silly and got .. carried away. That cheesy B-Movie ‘Alligator People’ was a source of inspiration. Like my vignette background?
