Alex the Goat Concept Art

Here is some of the concept art I made for Alex the Goat character that was used in the dancing animated short I did a month ago. I’ve put at least 50 hours of work into this character and will use him in other animated shorts. While I did the animation to hopefully get an interview at CTN Expo (a big animation con) , I still would like to figure out how to share it with others.

Dancing Goat Animation ( Let’s Sing)

After one month of designing, 3d modeling, and animating, I have finally finished this short music video featuring this nerdy little dancing goat named Alex.

Music is by the talented SackJo22 featuring George Ellinas with Snowflake on vocals. Download the song here: http://ccmixter.org/files/SackJo22/38362. Song used under the CC-A License.

A link to Information on my process will added here when I get the blog post finished.

A Penguin’s Short Slide (Short Animation)

A cocky penguin dares himself to slide off a mountain with a steep cliff edge only to hesitate when it’s too late. My first short animation in Blender.  What I thought would only take me a couple days, took almost 2 weeks.

If you enjoyed the animation, please share with friends.

ChipRom Walk Cycle

I took a break from my Penguin animation to animate my Zekrom Oc. I did a walk cycle for practice. It was my first walk cycle in Blender. It took more time then I thought it would .You can tell a lot about someone’s personality and mood in the way they walk.
Design wise I made ChipRom a ‘shiny’ yellow and changed the shirt to a orange color with white trim. I made this model from scratch using Blender and Sculptris. 7-10 hours of work so far.

Monster 12 Animated (Wip)

growl

I really liked the design of my critter and decided to animate it. The main reason I bought the last humble bundle was for a animation program called Spriter Pro. I was able learn the software (compared to AE it was a cakewalk) and make a modular animation a couple hours.  Granted I could have done the same animation in AE but It would have taken more time to set up.

Title Sequences (Animation Project 5)

My final assignment for my advanced animation class. I choose to to make Title Sequences. I wanted to make sure that I had some motion graphics material in my portfolio and title sequences are a common project that motion graphic artist receive. I am very proud of the 8-Bit title card. Also did a explosion animation at the end just for fun.

Psybug (Creature Animation)

My final assignment for my 3D Modeling class.
The assignment was to create a model and animate it.
Being the stupidly obsessive overachiever that I am, I picked the most difficult thing to create and animate: A monster. I decided to make a robot monster and use hierarchies to animate the creature instead of a traditional rigg. It was a lot of fun to design and animate.  I will provide a link to my concept sketches when I upload them.

Combining 3D objects into a live action scene (Animation Project 4)

I’m a little behind so there will be a few postings today.

A challenging assignment where I put a 3d creature into a live scene using motion tracking. I designed a cute little spheroid monster to sit on a chair. Also I set a 3D cylinder on a coffee table and made it shatter. I used After Effects. It would have been easier to use Maya for everything but since this was an After Effects class I had to used the program required in my class.

Link’s Mis-Adventures (Legend of Zelda Parody Animation)

Link confesses his love for turtles. The short film also features a garchomp (pokemon) and the old man that gives Link his sword.

This was my third animation project. The focus was Lip-syncing. . I tried 3 types of lip syncing

1. Replacement animation by switching mouth parts in and out.

2 using a jaw like henge. and

3. using the puppet tool for a ‘mouthless’ character.
