Gryphon (Monster 19)

anthro gryphon

Getting myself back into the monster painting project. Here is a painting/sketch of a gryphon.

I love gryphons, they are my second favorite monster, dragons being my first. I felt like painting one. I painted this using Manga Studio. Time Spent, a little over an hour and a half

Daily Painting 38 and 39 – Blaziken

daily-paint-blaziken-day-2-v2

A burd.  This blaziken doesn’t look to happy. Throw a berry at him; He will be fine. Although I do love his design, the pokemon looks too humanoid IMO. I usually do a new painting everyday. But I feel asleep working on this and wanted to finish it. Not too happy with the arms, I will probably repaint them in the future.

Daily Painting No. 11

the bird riding mage

I really hated yesterday’s painting so I redid it. It’s very difficult painting on a iPad. I do love my wacom tablet.  Self Critique: I am happy that I tried a lower camera angle. I had a bit of trouble with balancing the the bright red of the bird’s beak with the rest of the image. I am happy with the saddle but it could be refined to a much better design. I’m not too happy with the mage’s leg and how the robe wraps around. I probably could make a ref photo to figure out correct it but It don’t think it is worth investing any more time on it. Next 2 weeks I will only be doing studies, I’m a little annoyed with myself that I cant get what  out I want out of my imagination on to the canvas in it’s entirely. I have a pounding headache.

I spent about a hour and a half on this painting. Painted in Photoshop

castle ruins on a snowy mountain (Environment Painting 3)

enviroment painting mountian speedpaint hero evil crow castle creepy bats

Speed environment painting 3.  This could be a contender for a finished painting yet I still have 27 to go, that might change. I enjoyed painting the mountains and the crow. This painting is far from finished, yet I like that you can indicate a human structure with just a few strokes. Like the birds flying around the castle. it’s just a few dots.

Technically this was environment painting 4 but yesterdays attempt to paint a environment painting was so bad I decided to save your eyesight by not showing it. I’m pretending day 3 didn’t happen and moving on. Drawing a midnight might not be the best idea 😀

Time spent on this speed paint: 1 Hour: Photoshop: Copyright 2013 Maugryph.

Non art related: Anyone remember the game Earthbound? Nintendo is finally going to re release it on Virtual Console at the end of the year for both US and European markets. Of course they said that they where going to do that a few years ago. It would be nice to play it, hopefully Nintendo will live up to it’s promise this time.

This is what the game looks like. A Dragon Quest like RPG game set in the Modern World

The Ominous Tower

The Ominous Tower – (C) 2013 Maugryph

A dark eerie tower with stakes protruding out of it with vultures circling around, with it’s last unfortunate visitor still ‘hanging around’ the tower. (I know that was bad pun.. oh look shades are falling from the sky….). I been using Sketch Book Pro as of late due to getting it half off on a amazon sale. I must say it is drastically improved from the last version, with natural brushes and smudge tools, selection tools similar to Photoshop’s, and a clean interface. It’s now self contained so now I can draw a major if not all of the piece without relaying on Photoshop all the time. I might do a video on Sketch Book Pro 6 in the future.
