Painting of Benedict Cumberbatch
I wanted to paint a portrait of Mr Cumberbatch when I saw him play Khan in the last Star Trek. You might know him in the BBC show “Sherlock“, the modern Sherlock Holmes adaptation. It took about 3 hours. Painting was done entirely in Photoshop with Wacom Tablet.
The photos I used for reference I found on Wikimedia (CC), I leaned more toward his Sherlock hairstyle.
After doing a mess of speed paintings, my portfolio shouted in agony “you fool, FINISH your paintings for pete’s sake”. Always listen to your portfolio.. or it might attack you when your asleep in bed.
I pre ordered Amnesia: The Michine for Pigs. It’s out now. It’s very late. I don’t know it I should start it tonight. :O
Let me know what you think of the painting.
Charcoal dragon (daily doodle)
Update: Image cropped and uploaded in right orientation
Update: I tried the WordPress app on my smart phone. It screwed up everything. It double posted and uploaded the image upside down. I won’t be using it again, that’s for sure.. Image is fixed now. Sorry about that
For today’s doodle I thought I would try my hand at drawing a dragon in charcoal. About a hour. Ran out of fixate afraid of moving page.
Komodo Dragon Sketch (Daily Doodle 6-25-2013)
Head Portrait, Woman, Surprised (Value Painting / Sketch)
My daily head painting practice. This one I struggled a bit with. Because the the perspective was above the viewer’s eye and I not used to drawing a head at such a angle. But I made it though. I went a half hour over and still didn’t have time for the hair or blending the face so this picture is still quite raw. I thought the teeth and open mouth would be difficult but it was actually much easier then I anticipated.
Painted in Photoshop
Time spent 1 1/2 hours
