After having diner with my friends at a brewery. We had interesting talk about which friends we knew would win in a fight of various monsters and such, including Sasquatch, megaman, and velociraptors. After such a enlightening chat, I wondered what my friends would look like if they where velociraptors. I sketched these on what I remembered a velociraptor looked like from memory ( I had no wifi at the time) and sketched these in haste. At first I wasn’t going to add any clothing or hair, but it was next to impossible to portray each friend exactly, so I gave in. I added feathers in the back because they where wearing shirts and need feathers elsewhere. They are very rough doodles but still funny, if I do anther pass with these characters I make them more accurate. Drawn on my iPad using Procreate. Time spent: about 50 minutes
Here’s a character that has been haunting my comics for years. Started out as a parody of Dr. Mario, but then evolved into something more sinister. Although having ‘Goode’ in his name he is a very lousy doctor, in fact his ineptness causes more harm then good. I enjoyed drawing his bizarre antics in the past but now he needed a update baddly. I wanted to see if I could improve the character after about 8 months of not drawing him to see if I could improve his design. Here is what Alex looked like 8 months ago: http://superdefective.wordpress.com/2012/06/25/iface/. Let me know what you think.
I thought I would try my hand at sketching a female humanoid dragon thing. I am not happy with her, I made her too human and not enough dragon. I also tested Bamboo Paper that came with my Bamboo Create tablet. It’s a very limited app and probably will not be using it again. I also tried my hand at a couple heads. One sketch I did on a white background. It nearly blinded me.
The Dragon girl was sketched in Photoshop
The rest where drawn in Sketchbook Pro.
I just realized I just put Copyright 2012 on all my images I drew today. Man I’m retarded.

Just making make sure this would actually work. I created my first set for my comic in 3d, the dragon’s work area. After I created the set, I experimented with rendering to see what way would be best and tried various toon shaders , flat shading, among other things. I found the best result and it matched with the vector character, as I want it to look as seamless as possible. I’m using techniques used more by animators then cartoonist for this project. I want the comic to look very clean and professional.

It’s quite a long title for this painting. I couldn’t think of anything catchy. I been focusing my art on telling stories. I spent a great deal of time on this work, about 4 hours total. Granted there are some things i could refine at a later time, I am currently happy how it is in it’s current state. I was very interested in making sure the perspective is interesting and accurate. My obsession with chiarscuro has no end. Another dragon, I know. I will be working on a shipwreck scene for my next story painting. Created in Photoshop. (C)2012 maugryph
A silly creativity app that give random creative ideas, suggested that I try a past idea and complete it. So what does this anthro fox chick have anything to do with that? Debra was a old character I was going to use is some comic. When i started drawing I just didn’t have the skills. When I did have the skill, I lost interest in cartoon animals and decided to draw robots and roger dean inspired landscapes instead. I art with foxes is over saturated on DA, everyone draws them for some reason almost as much as ponies. Yes she has a sarcastic disgusted look on purpose.
