Today’s character design is Arron Shepfield. He is a scastctic egotistical owner of a coffee chain but has a big secret regarding his entire planet.

Alex the Goat Concept Art
Here is some of the concept art I made for Alex the Goat character that was used in the dancing animated short I did a month ago. I’ve put at least 50 hours of work into this character and will use him in other animated shorts. While I did the animation to hopefully get an interview at CTN Expo (a big animation con) , I still would like to figure out how to share it with others.
QuickHorror Key Art
Here is the key art that I did for QuickHorror. It will be used at a promotional image for the beta/prototype distribution. I want to give a dark feel. I really wanted to paint the entire monster in the painting but then it take some mystery out of the game. The monster in the game is rendered in a way that you cant get a clear shot of it. I will release a trailer tomorrow, and a press release on Wednesday.
I’m hoping I can upload the game to IndieDB, GameJolt, an another indie game server tonight. It will only have the procedural generated levels but that alone should give a player hours of game play. If enough people like the game, I will Kickstart it. I’m excited and terrified. I’ve never promoted my games before.
Project Night: Monster Concept Art
Concept art of the monsters in my adventure game. The theme of the monsters is eyeballs. The theme of the environment is teeth. I painted these in Photoshop CC.
The first monster character is the Brute: a buff but slow monster that hunts you during the day, and the Chaser: A nimble fast monster that hunts you down at night.
I’ve already have made the 3d models and are now in the game! I will upload them to sketchfab soon as well as some in game footage of the prototype.
Mountains Concept(D44)
Messing around in Artrage with some concept art. I do like the realistic brushstrokes I can make with the software, but I haven’t figured out how to handle detail and refinement well.
Abstract Ollice Version 2 (D42)
After getting some sleep, I look at the painting and decided to see if I could push it farther. The spheroid changed into a fluffy, multi eyed, serpentine monstrosity. The painting now has a clear back, middle, and foreground, thanks to adding broken ship parts in the foreground, and painting the rest of the body in the back. I might have lost some of the spontaneity of the first one but think it is a better picture overall. Might push it even farther..
Waterfall Concept: Project Night(D34)
Some more concept art for my Project Night project. I was thinking of a waterfall /oasis like area in the mountains of the desert. I haven thought of what events would happen at the waterfall yet.
Project Night: Ruins Concept art (D31)
Some concept art for the ruins area of project dark. I’m debating if I should give it a jungle like environment or not. In old jungle ruins you see those large vines that take over buildings. I would like to incorporate that into the level if possible but I don’t know if I have the main power to make them. I drew a bird/lizard like creature because my brain wasn’t up to drawing a person tonight. Honestly for the world, what needs to considered is the fauna and flora in the world. It needs to be just a little exotic but still grounded in our world
Desert Statue Concept: Project Night (D26)
Alex the Alligator (D19)
I really wanted to draw one of my favorite old characters. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you have probably seen him a few times. I went out of my comfort zone and massed (aka blocked in) the shapes without a preliminary line sketch
1+ hour of work which I am ashamed to say is the most I’ve spent on a daily so far this year. Drawn in Manga Studio as always.
I also have a girl named Alix and a dragon named Alex… I need to come up with better names for my characters. Maybe I can rename the gator Chip or something.
Also, what do you think of the redesign of the blog?
