The Coffee Spider Bot (Concept art)

coffespider

Concept Art for the coffee spider bot. This robot delivers coffee in seconds will satisfy all you coffee needs.

This concept art is for a 3d printing project. I needed to create a machine that would be too impractical. A ginormous robot spider that’s sole purpose is to make and deliver coffee fits the bill.

The 3d model is almost done. I will upload it soon.

I finally got my spaceship 3d printed, I will upload some photos soon.

Monster Revised (Leviathan Game)

scorpian monster with claws and death

Update: After inserting the monster into the game, he was a bit too hard to see, so I went back to his purple coloring.

If you like to rotate this 3d model at all angles, you can view it on p3d.in : https://p3d.in/Cv7rb

I have revised the monster a third time. When inserting the monster into the game, the bright colors didn’t match the atmosphere of the game. I added some more clamps and gave him a poisonous stinger. This is the benefit of modular design. It took only an hour and a half to implement these changes. The only disadvantage of modular design is hiding the seams where the polygons connect. That’s where using a singular mesh has it’s advantage, but just try to add more polygons to a mesh that has already has uvs. It’s a nightmare.

My Rusty Argonian Mage

argonian-mage

A sketch of the argonian character I play in TESO. The argonian is one of the races you can play in The Elder Scrolls. They are sentient humanoid reptiles that have more in common with an amphibians then lizards.

The Monster – Leviathan (Finished Painting)

monster concept artwork

I finally finished the painting. About 7 hours of work. For time sake when creating the model, I should make the character symmetrical so the tentacle hands where replaced with claws. I feel this is one of my best concept paintings so for.  It’s going to be fun sculpting the model. Since this is the only character in the game, more time can be spent on him.

He will only need 2 animations

Monster 12 Animated (Wip)

growl

I really liked the design of my critter and decided to animate it. The main reason I bought the last humble bundle was for a animation program called Spriter Pro. I was able learn the software (compared to AE it was a cakewalk) and make a modular animation a couple hours.  Granted I could have done the same animation in AE but It would have taken more time to set up.

Creature Feature 2- Sarmarmia the Undead Queen

undead queen which monster

My sixth creature design. It could be pushed more. I am going though growing pains with character concepts at the moment. Since it is purely from my imagination, I should have looked at some references to push the clothing design, something that isn’t my strongest suite at the moment. I also made her arms incredibly lanky.  The goal was to 1. make a undead queen and 2. not fall into the cliche trope making it look like the Queen in Snow White or Maleficent. In all honestly it looks more like a sorceress then a queen. I spent about 2 hours on it. I’ve done worse.

Daily Painting No.87- Dragon painted on a iPad (procreate)

After a epic 2 hour struggle with painting this thing with my finger, and a neck cramp…I am done with it . Not that it is done as a finished painting, I’m just done. Period. For a finger painting it’s not terrible, I’m just would have done better using actual paint or a Wacom tablet.

Bird Creature Mount Concept Sculpture

I discovered that concept sculpting is a lot of fun and lets you explore various idea’s rather quickly. I sculpted this entirely out of my imagination with no refs. My inspiration came from the peacocks I sketch at the zoo. They look so flamboyant. I was curious if I could cross a bird with a dinosaur. I was curious what it might look like. This model has some glaring anatomical issues that would need to be fixed if I was going to develop it into a finished sculpture. But since it’s just a reference for a illustration I will be painting soon, I’m not too concerned about fixing it at the moment. Feedback and critiques are always welcome. Sculptris. 3 Hours

Here is a detailed image, just in case you can’t see the turntable video.

Humanoid Dragon in Mudbox WIP v2

humanoid dragon face zbrush mudbox sculpture

I brought my 3d sketch into Mudbox, a more professional 3d sculpting program. I was able use the Retopography tool to turn my sculpture into a quad mesh that was sculpt-able. So far after a bit of messing around was able to put a couple more hours into the figure. It’s far from done unfortunately and I need to finish my wyrm in a jar painting before I do anything else. I will attempt my first 3d illustration after by create separate models and then posing and combining them into one scene.

Because I am a student, Autodesk provides non-commercial 3 year licenses of their products to students. I wanted to learn Mudbox for quite some time. One thing I must say is that it much easier to use then zbrush ( I tried Zbrush a long time ago when they still had a trial version of their software. The crazy UI drove me insane! And I thought Blender’s UI made no sense. I have no clue if the new version has a improved UI or not). I also download Maya since my future class will requires that program.
