Dragonian Warrior Clad in Light Armor

dragon humaniod warror dragonkin draconian dragonian wear dark souls armor holding great sword behind bridge

A couple days ago I published to the blog completed artwork of the Dragon Humanoid Warrior. I wasn’t completely happy with it so I continued to work on it. I was displeased with the dragon’s face  and I totally forgot to finish the neck, so I fixed it. Made the eyes bigger and engaged them to the viewer. The armor was originally inspired by a armor set  in the video game Dark Souls, but when I was done drawing the armor it was too close, so I modified the armor to something more original. Fixed some sloppy errors in the background but left it relatively loose. Fixed some lighting issues. Removed the old image and post off the blog.

The Curse

werewolf curse werewolf transtformation female cursed pendant in pain crying crying for help

Digging around my archives I found this drawing I did of this female werewolf arms raised trying to call for help but being unable to with only howls and whimpers coming out. It was a unfinished line drawing that I made a couple years ago. I thought it would be cool to see if i could bump it up a notch with my new painting skills and recreate it in a more realistic way. Then I though why is she a werewolf? Being bitten by one was too cliche. I thought a cursed pendant would be the most effective way to portray that. It was kinda fun experimenting with the ‘special effects’. Unlike most werewolf art where the artist ether is trying to scare you or try to show off how bad-ass the monster is, I wanted the viewer to feel sympathy for her.

Home Review: Is this horror indie game the next Amnesia? Or does it fall victim to it’s own craftiness?

Home has a great story, in fact the story changes depending on which objects you pick up, pathways you take, and which assumptions you make throughout the game. The game play itself is minimal, focusing solely on narrative and is much more like Dear Esther then Resident Evil. Aesthetically the game resembles a old Commodore 64 game with sound effects to match, and due to this it is very difficult to feel frightened or be in suspense. The game is terribly short and can be completed in less then a hour. Granted you could replay it a second time to see how different actions effect the story but unfortunately the story remains relatively the same throughout. Home is more interactive fiction then game, and is different enough to least check out. I would only recommend purchasing it when it goes on sale.

The artwork is based on a promotion screenshot of the game. SPOILERS: Unfortunately this is exciting as this game gets. Painted in Sketchbook Pro.

A dark eerie tower with stakes protruding out of it with vultures circling around, with it’s last unfortunate visitor still ‘hanging around’ the tower. (I know that was bad pun.. oh look shades are falling from the sky….). I been using Sketch Book Pro as of late due to getting it half off on a amazon sale. I must say it is drastically improved from the last version, with natural brushes and smudge tools, selection tools similar to Photoshop’s, and a clean interface. It’s now self contained so now I can draw a major if not all of the piece without relaying on Photoshop all the time. I might do a video on Sketch Book Pro 6 in the future.

Mech Entering a Cargo Bay (Concept Art 2)

Mech entering cargo bay
2nd concept art image

My second attempt at a concept art scene. This time some bubbly mech machine. I relied on heavily on three point perspective on this one. I mess up a little on the shadows and my mech is a bit too simple but I’m pleased its a dramatic picture and tells some sort of story. The chiaroscuro isn’t too bad either. I got a way to go.

Wrecked House – Concept Painting 01

first concept art landscape fantasy painting black and white

My first attempt a landscape painting the tells some sort of story. And my first ‘concept art’ style painting. I have been inspired by concept artists that paint entire scenes at a whim and at a highly readable style. I want to be able to tell stories with my paintings, I just never knew how, I usually just focused on characters and simplified backgrounds but not the story. I been drawing landscapes for a year now but I never felt like i was giving a emotion with them, That I was just  making something pretty. So this is my first painting in that respect. Although there are many things I see that I could of done to make the image better, I moving on. You got to start somewhere. I want to improve on my concepts. I;ve been reading books and watching videos on how to improve on this matter. Feel free to comment.

More landscape speed paintings

Instead of posting one painting at a time I thought I would put it in one post to save everyone’s (including mine) sanity. Last thing I want to do is spam my viewers with speed paintings.
