Daily Doodle for Mon and Tues. I I haven’t drawn a dragon recently so I thought I would do one from my imagination. I usually do a new doodle every day but I couldn’t keep awake last night and wanted to practice mark making, so I continued to mess around with it. 45 minutes to a hour
I participated in http://www.lynda.com/Design-Illustration-tutorials/21-Day-Drawing-Challenge/164144-2.html?utm_medium=ldc-partner&utm_source=SSPRC&utm_content=524&utm_campaign=CD14621&bid=524&aid=CD14621). Truthfully I was hoping to upload the new challenge drawing every day, but I have been swamped with homework this month. Being the genus that I am, I took 15 credit hours at 3 different colleges. I am almost done with a 8 week psychology course, and I spend around 6-9 hours a week on the darn thing. It’s driving me crazy. So I haven’t post in a month. But I did successfully finish the challenge. I have a friend join me on the challenge and it helped a lot. I enjoyed the challenge, my only gripe is that it was supposed to be for all skill levels but my non-artist friend struggled with it, I had to help him along and teach him techniques that the videos did not mention. I actually enjoyed teaching him. However, the course made him discover that he loves drawing and had decided to continue with it, which I am excited about. I definitely will do another monthly challenge after I finish dreaded Psychology get caught up on other things. (It will be a while).‘s 21 Day Drawing Challenge (
It’s funny that I spend so much time sketching animals at the zoo but then I never upload them here. Well that is stupid of me and it is going to change. Here are some animal sketches slight from my sketch book. Although I have 100s of pages of animals sketches. I refuse to torture my readers so I will only upload the best of my sketches.
Finished a tone sketchbook. Out of hundreds of sketches i did, I picked my favorites. I have switched to markers to build confidence in my line work and simply because I love the look.
I made this stupid rule when playing video games: every half hour I must take a break and sketch something from the game. So there is a couple sketches of McPixel. It’s a very short game. The weirdest, strangest, most demented adventure game I’ve played so far. I was very addictive and ended way too soon. Also a few drawings of dragons, strangely enough out of the 100s of sketches I did, these are the only dragon drawings I did around that period, yet they are some of the best that I’ve done. I also sketched a tree from my house and a barn from my imagination. And that horse… I need to practice drawing equines more.
Next’s weeks sketchbook drawings will be ones I did a the zoo.
Update: Image cropped and uploaded in right orientation
Update: I tried the WordPress app on my smart phone. It screwed up everything. It double posted and uploaded the image upside down. I won’t be using it again, that’s for sure.. Image is fixed now. Sorry about that
For today’s doodle I thought I would try my hand at drawing a dragon in charcoal. About a hour. Ran out of fixate afraid of moving page.
I been drawing quite a bit of dragons that are more like wild animals,I wanted to take a shot at drawing one that was mire of a ‘person’ and have a personality yet still resembled the fire breathing monster we all know and love. Maybe this dragon was once a man and is now struggling with is new body, or perhaps is a domestic dragon that is kind to humans and is like a loyal pet to them. I wanted to try this with out resorting to anthropomorphism. Here is the fished drawing. I struggled with this one, changing various features, over and over. Im not quite sure if i like this drawing or not. Painted in Procreate
Still trying to get back into the grove of drawing with a pencil, I’ve been spoiled by Photoshop and my Computer Tablet. Here is the best of the sketches today. A Lighting study of a crocodile, Shawn the Sheep ‘fan art’, and Cumberbatch’s Eye.
Cumberbatch himself admits his secret shape shifting powers “I think my eye will open at the end of the first film, and then you’ll get the rest of me in the second.” .. what .. you mean it’s mocap?.. never mind. But Weta could save a lot of money just by using Benedict Cumberbatch as is in the film, they wouldn’t need to design and render a dragon, Cumberbatch looks enough like one already :D. Sorry that was a bad joke, sometimes my jokes seem to drag-on.
Ok I will stop, I just recently seen the new Star Trek movie (In Darkness) and Cumberbatch did a excellent job as the villain. The movie was great and borrows quite a bit from the original Star Trek 2 movie but cleverly swapped things around.
