QuickHorror Key Art

Quickhorror key art 10 flattened crop3

Here is the key art that I did for QuickHorror. It will be used at a promotional image for the beta/prototype distribution. I want to give a dark feel. I really wanted to paint the entire monster in the painting but then it take some mystery out of the game. The monster in the game is rendered in a way that you cant get a clear shot of it. I will release a trailer tomorrow, and a press release on Wednesday.

I’m hoping I can upload the game to IndieDB, GameJolt, an another indie game server tonight. It will only have the procedural generated levels but that alone should give a player hours of game play. If enough people like the game, I will Kickstart it. I’m excited and terrified. I’ve never promoted my games before.

The Monster – Concept art for ‘Leviathan’ game (Monster 14) (WIP)

Concept art for the monster in my Leviathan game. Even though he will be floating in air, I wanted him to have a more ocean critter look.

monster-14-prelims

As for the remaining 15 monsters, they will be put on hold until I finish the game for the contest (Deadline is the 28th) I need to do some concept art for the game.

To do list for game that must get done:
Design concepts for the remaining two Islands
Incorporate those designs into the levels in progress
Simplify the grass and tree textures
Design puzzles for each Island
Design the Artifact
Replace the Medieval house model
Create the Artifact model
Create the Monster model – Only a hovering animation is currently needed
If time permits: Attempt to replace any remaining stock models with ones of my creation

MY GOAL
One island needs to completed. Puzzles, monsters and all. This is a more realistic goal. I want this short game to be as polished as possible.

My best sketches of My Tone Sketchbook (7-2013 to 8-2013)

Finished a tone sketchbook. Out of hundreds of sketches i did, I picked my favorites. I have switched to markers to build confidence in my line work and simply because I love the look.

I made this stupid rule when playing video games: every half hour I must take a break and sketch something from the game. So there is a couple sketches of McPixel. It’s a very short game. The weirdest, strangest, most demented adventure game I’ve played so far. I was very addictive and ended way too soon. Also a few drawings of dragons, strangely enough out of the 100s of sketches I did, these are the only dragon drawings I did around that period, yet they are some of the best that I’ve done. I also sketched a tree from my house and a barn from my imagination. And that horse… I need to practice drawing equines more.

Next’s weeks sketchbook drawings will be ones I did a the zoo.
