More head practice. This time a value sketch of man’s head. I wanted him to look more heroic so I exaggerated some features like the cheekbones and the cleft chin yet I still wanted to look grounded in real life. I spent about 30 minutes on him more or less. I really enjoy painting in Photoshop since I have learned that you can change the opacity of the brush by pressing the numbers key a few months ago. I do my best to imitate gouache when painting and constantly change the opacity of the paint. Gouache (solid watercolors out of a tube with gum added) is what I used to paint in before I went digital. I tried acrylics in the past and disliked it and oils bothered my skin . It kinda feels like gouache minus the mess and you get layers (unlike real gouache the will actually flakes off if you apply too much on top) 😀
