Chip Rom the Zekrom and his son. Chip is a quiet and reserved person who resides on the geeky side of the spectrum. He is a single parent of a young rambunctious son, who he loves deeply. His ideal is to be a great father. The son model is based on Chip but with a much larger head with no hair. Remember at the beginning of the year I announced that I was going work on a short film parody using my ‘pokepeople’. I finally have a model finished. I need finish one more pokeperson model more before I can start ‘shooting’ the short. It’s either going to be the grumpy dragonite or the cocky charizard (Those two WIPs I uploaded two weeks ago). retopography is not so fun.
Link confesses his love for turtles. The short film also features a garchomp (pokemon) and the old man that gives Link his sword.
This was my third animation project. The focus was Lip-syncing. . I tried 3 types of lip syncing
1. Replacement animation by switching mouth parts in and out.
2 using a jaw like henge. and
3. using the puppet tool for a ‘mouthless’ character.
Link is the daily paint, the others are characters used in my next animation project that I will upload soon. The poses are stiffer then usual because I needed to rig them for animation.
Link – Main character in ‘The Legend of Zelda’. There are three main ‘Links’ in the series, this is ‘Toon’ Link
Old Man – The one who give’s Link his sword in the beginning of the game. I had a lot of freedom with how I wanted him to look like, since the original is just a pixelated sprite.
Cubone Line – Link wearing a cubone’s mask.
Link is (C) Nintendo yada yada yada.
The caption that goes below this painting when it is finished will be “you have nice manners for a thief and a liar”. I am very disappointed that I was unable to finish by release day :(. My desktop PC was crashing after a few minutes of turning on. I think its over heating. I will probably need to crack it open and replace a fan if that is what it is. I haven’t run a diagnostic so I’m not sure. But regardless, I was unable to work on this. Thank goodness I worked on the color study for my commission first. Updates are : I made Smaug bigger. I refined Bilbo’s,Thorin’s, and Smaug’s face. Added a cast shadow. I can’t believe it took me a hour to do this. I must need more coffee 😀 Although I have a great reference for Cumberbatch’s face, I need so see how his wings and tail are before working on them. So I will need to rent the movie soon.
Time spend on this piece: 3 hours so far.
It is always important to mind your manners, even when your trying to steal a
golden cup Arkenstone from a giant fire breathing dragon Cumberbatch . I don’t know why this image popped in my head, but it did. It probably has something to do with the stereotype of the british loving their tea . Although I spent a couple of hours on this already, it is still pretty rough. I need to get it done by tomorrow so it is adjacent with the release of Peter Jackson’s money printing machine the second Hobbit film. I did enjoy the second film so I look forward to seeing it again.
Note to self: it occurred to me that I have either made smaug too small or the dwarves and hobbitze too big. It throughs a ratchet in my comp so I will try to figure it out.
I was really depressed last night so I needed to draw something silly. I love finding connections to things that have little in common. You can break down this spoof in two ways.
1. Cumberbatch playing both Kahn and Smaug. And Spock entering the wrong movie by mistake.
2. The original Spock’s outrageous song about Bilbo Baggins (seriously…. It exists.)
There is one thing for certain. If Spock and Smuag where in the same movie. Smuag would get his ‘donkey’ (another pun yay!) handed to him.
I spent about 2 hours on this sketch. Also, if I get 5 comments about liking this sketch, I will make it into a painting
Introducing the assassin’s breed. If Ezio was a dog whisperer… this is what he would train. My first parody art I’ve done since setting up this blog (I’m making ‘pun’ of Assassin’s Creed, another game series I have never played ). My pun filled head knows no shame, I have not a clue where these things hide in my brain :). I had fun rendering this little doggy with a awesome hoodie. Used top lighting because it is super easy (for me). The only disadvantage of top lighting is that you get these sometimes long cast shadows below the neck.
time spent: 1 hour? I have no clue.
