This was a parody Pokemon character I made for a comic project I was working with some forum friends. I call it a ‘pokeperson’ and is similar to the Latios Man concept I drew a month ago. But now it doesn’t look like the project is going to happen now. Ive been using the portrait as an avatar on some social sites I hang out at.
My monster for Sunday. I could push this even more if I could keep my eyes open… I have the night owl curse,. I skipped doing monsters on Friday and Saturday. There just wasn’t enought time to paint due to the plans I had this weekend. Starting this week, I will work on a monster for two days instead of one. The first day will be research, prelims, and sketches (which will be uploaded). The second day will be the actual painting.
I need to do more of these environment story paintings. This painting came from just playing around with shapes until something appeared. That thing is this sea monster fish. It looks much more lively and interesting then my last sea monster painting in 2013. I think I leveled up a little. An hour more or less
Daily Doodle for Wednesday. I tried my hand at a robot assassin but It didn’t turn out that well. I have decided that the daily doodle is not working for me. First I doodle on paper every day. Sometimes for hours. Frankly I’m just too lazy to scan and upload it here. so its redundant. As an artist I need to change focus if something is not working. So I am changing it into the 100 Character Challenge. I feel my humanoid character designs could use a shot in the arm. I discovered on DeviantArt there is literally thousands of stock images of people in costumes and in various poses that artist can use for reference. I will be using these as practice. Sometimes I will make a character similar to the stock image, other times I will use it to jump start my imagination. So I will give myself 1 to 2 hours a day to work on this. 2 days total for each character. In .. color or B&W. I’m optimistic this will help me with designing costumes and posing characters. I project this will take 6 months to complete. if this doesn’t work after a month, I will just find another daily practice routine like I did with the 21 Day Challenge.
More Destiny doodles. Although the game as a whole is somewhat disappointing, The art direction is top notch. This robot is called a goblin. I honestly have no clue why Bungie named it this. It looks nothing like a goblin! This one eyed freak is annoying because to do a ‘head shot’ you shoot it in it’s white belly. If you shoot off it’s head it goes insane and remains ‘alive’. I need more robot practice. Time spent: 1 hour. Ref is from official Bungie promo 3d model renders
A monster doodle that I dilly dallied too long with. I didn’t get nearly as far as I hoped. because of this I didn’t get to work on the values, so it looks flat 😦 The design reminds me of something that would fit in Shadow of the Colossus. I’m disappointed with it but feel I learned something so I’m happy.
I’m am trying with dear life to conquer my ADD and make some finished art for my portfolio. Since I enjoy fantasy, I though I would do a story painting. The interaction between the mage and the king regarding the drake trophy above the kings head is the most important part of the story. I will leave it to you to interpret what they are talking about. This will be a completed painting, color and all. two and a half hours so far
Out of the 6 studies and 50 thumbnails I did for my drawing, these two are my best.
For the eel drawing i used a photo from Wikipedia as a reference. The time it took to draw: 30 minutes
For the sea monster, I drew it from my imagination. I did about 9 variations and picked the one I though was the best to refine. Time Spent: 2 hours
