2 hours (Although I did get distracted as I was watching a movie at the same time).
Another pokemon. I appear to be fond of reptilian looking ones.I will have to figure out what to paint this week. I want to do at least 1 still life.
Another T-shirt design. It was originally a quick sketch but I liked it so much, that I colored the gator in Photoshop. It’s a bit more raw then my previous design as my sketch marks show though, but I like how it came out.
If you actually like the design enough to wear it, you can purchase it here: http://www.redbubble.com/people/maugryph/works/10754317-later-gator
I going to go back to doing a daily digital doodle. Most likely I will using a reference or analog but sometimes I will draw random stuff. Like this. A sad anthropomorphic alligator. granted this is more of a sketch then a doodle. There is some issues with this painting. If you have any suggestions, feel free to give them. Unlike a gator, I wont bite. the upper torso feels like it has form. The lower body feels a little flat to me for some reason. The pant folds are great but I was too sloppy with the shirt. Time spent, a hour and a half (or less, I cant remember.) Photoshop.
Just kidding :D. The name for this painting is ‘Later Gator’. Originally this was going to be a portrait of a alligator similar to the crocodile portrait I have painted before. But after a frustrating start I became silly and got .. carried away. That cheesy B-Movie ‘Alligator People’ was a source of inspiration. Like my vignette background?
Here is the reference I used for the alligator head. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:*Big*_Walking_Gator_at_lake_Woodruff.jpg. The reference for the hoodie was one of my own photos.

I will be doing portraits of animals for the rest of the week. Today I painted one of my favorite reptiles, the crocodile. I ignored the smudge tool and solely used the flat round brush. I had so much fun painting this that I lost track of time and have no clue how long I spent on it. Painting from scratch in Photoshop using a wacom tablet.
I remembered Wikimedia commons is a great place for public domain and CC photos. Here is the link to the ref photo I used if your interested.
In other news I found 6 of the 7 ‘Nausicaa of the valley of the Wind’ manga graphic novels at a thrift store for the price of one. Hayao Miyazaki’s films had a major impact on me when I was younger and have watched most of his films. But I never seen his comic work before he became a director. I’m not the biggest manga fan but this is wonderful artwork. It’s all black and white with with a spot of halftone but it looks very complex even though it is simple. Wikipedia article here.
I’ve also have a urge to play ‘Shadow of the Colossus’ for some reason after looking at the comics. I have no clue why.
