This is a still life study of these cool seed shells I found on the ground at the zoo. If you know what type of seed, please let me know. Time spent painting this 45 minutes.
Trying to get out of my comfort zone. I had this glue bottle on my desk and decided to paint a still life of it. I asked myself “What is the most uncomfortable way to paint this thing? I know! MS Paint with only the pencil tool and the default pallet!” MS paint has no wacom sensitivity or transparency and a stupid loading circle would show up every time I pressed down onto the tablet. There are some new brushes available but they are a joke and have no control options. when I was a kid i used to make pixel art with it because it has decent zooming tools. you can still make some great work with it if you are patient (I’m not). What is disappointing about ver 6.1 is that the halftone patterns are gone. it would of helped allot with this painting to able to use halftone gradients. It’s amazing how MS Paint is still the dinosaur of paint apps after all this time. 25 minutes.
As strange as it looks. It IS a still life painting. For a school art project I was taking apart cheap $1 toys and then putting them back to together as a mash-up. Dr. Frankenstein would have been proud. One of my creations was a stegosaurus centaur. Unfortunately I messed up when gluing it and the poor thing fell apart. the only parts that stayed together (barley) was the neck/head and the torso. I thought it would be cool to use my florescent light as the only main lighting source. Well.. it over-saturated all the colors. This was extremely hard for me to paint because every color was at both a high saturation and value. I finally gave up and added a lower value blue. I will only use the florescent light for fill lighting from now on.
I couldn’t think of a clever pun, unfortunately…wait a minute. Never mind 🙂 I’m not the biggest fan of the ‘flustered fowls’. I never really enjoyed the games, I found the physics too random. Getting three stars on all levels required just as much luck as skill. That didn’t stop me from buying Space, which is surprising decent. When it merged with Star Wars, and became a massive commercial Goliath (Angry Bird underwear..seriously?!). My spid-hipster sense started tingling and I never looked back at the ‘grumpy game’. My friend bought me this USB stick of the red bird because he though I loved the games :\. I used to use it often to transfer files from one location to another… and then I started to use Dropbox, and then the ‘frustrated fowl’ sat alone, collecting dust. I wanted to paint something spherical, It was there, so I painted it. Created from scratch in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet. 45 minutes. Now lets eat those eggs!
This still life was more of a challenge for me. It was a oddly shaped flash light. I didn’t set up the still life in my studio, so there is no fill lighting and whatnots. It just painted it on my friend’s kitchen table. Rendering the reflectivity in the glass was fun, but I didn’t get it a 100%, I will try another glass study such as this in the future. I spent about a hour painting this. I painted this from scratch in Photoshop using a wacom tablet.
Dragon friday is tomorrow.. The puns worsens every day :D. I spent 40 minutes painting this awesome rock. Forgive me for abusing the purple fill light.. It’s the only bulb color I have at the moment 🙂 On the other hand if I hadn’t added the fill light, the painting would of been a little boring. I’ve been taking a color workshop, It’s amazing how much it rubs off on me. I am a chronic note taker..
My blog has reached a 1000 WordPress followers. 🙂 Thank you readers and friends so much for all your input, encouragement, and for looking at my paintings 🙂
Dragon tomorrow. today I had to paint a ball. A boring white ball. Decided that instead of doing the standard top left lighting scheme, I would challenge myself.I must be a glutton for punishment. Two light sources. almost back lit. Why don’t I just put a target on my forehead? It’s dragon Saturday, unfortunately I probably wont finish her till tomorrow. I have two challenging art assignments and a commission that gets priority.
From now on, every still life painting will have stomach turning punny title.
A still life study of a bear skull I saw at a zoo. 30 minutes is not enough time to paint something as complex as this. I should of done a cool down and done some blending.
Dragon Saturday is approaching…..
I just plum forgot to do a Still life yesterday. Sorry about that :(. Also I noticed I have some comments. I promised to respond tomorrow morning.
Feedback is welcome 🙂
Dragon Saturday is.. wait.. I already said that..
