I get the itch to paint a dragon every once and a while.

Hungry Dragon (D27)
This dragon looks hungry… Run Sir. Knight! Run!
I was only going to spend an hour painting today’s daily… I spent 3hours on it. I got stuck rendering the mouth (Mostly the top apparently), I have not rendered dragon’s mouth too much, it was a new challenge. What do you think of this dragon? Does it look too generic or do you think it’s design is decent?
Monster 12 Animated (Wip)
I really liked the design of my critter and decided to animate it. The main reason I bought the last humble bundle was for a animation program called Spriter Pro. I was able learn the software (compared to AE it was a cakewalk) and make a modular animation a couple hours. Granted I could have done the same animation in AE but It would have taken more time to set up.
Daily Paint 15 – Dragon sketch
Mr.Dragon is in a rage because his favorite mechanical pencil broke in half.
I been so busy with commissions and artwork for classes as of late I haven’t been able to paint much of personal projects. I sketch with a mechanical pencil, a Zebra, supposedly best mechanical pencil money could buy… and it broke in half after one month of use. It was disappointing but I didn’t go on a rampage and set the town on fire, at least not this time. I been trying to tell stories when I draw, even if it doesn’t show in the final image. I wanted to draw a dragon, and I thought “why is he angry?” Because his favorate mechanical pencil has broken in half. How is he going draw fair maidens now? About a hour and a half to make. Needs a little more clean up. I figured out a thing I need to work on after painting this. How to be playful with my paintings and not take the process so seriously. my sketches have been more imaginative since I started this.
Daily Painting No.7 (Bilbo Baggins)
Update: after work, couldn’t sleep. worked on it for 15 minutes trying to fix stuff.
I was pressed for time. So I am unable to finish it. It’s Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins. I might finish this painting… or not. I was going to include a review of the movie with this post, but I ran out of time..
Self Critique: finish the mouth and correct a minor error with it. Needs more refinement. Theirs something else..

Daily Painting # 7
A mouse scorns a crocodile
Might not be the smartest thing for a mouse to do… I enjoy doing these fun little drawings with animals. I like the interaction between the two characters. It’s also one of the few drawings I have done where the horizon line is not visible. I painted this in Photoshop with Wacom tablet.
To my excitement WordPress has notified me that I have 500 wordpress readers following my blog (635 readers total). A big thank you goes out to all my readers and everyone who has been watching my work , commenting, and giving me feedback. It means a lot to me and has given me motivation to continue improving myself as a artist. 😀
Asgaut the Viking – Page 2
Second Page of Asgaut the Viking. Trying different camera angles and driving myself crazy drawing them. On the plus side I am sticking to 4-6 panels a page, which is admittedly small for a graphic novel comic book thingy.
Created in Photoshop. I used a soft round brush for inking. I find that even though I have a 8×6 drawing tablet, I cant get my lines crisp enough. I thought I would try using halftones for this page. It’s easy to create halftones in Photoshop. I had a blast shading it though. It’s funny, shading and shadows used to be what I hated to draw, but now it’s what I look forward to. Any feedback is welcome.
Next some concept designs and I am aiming for two pages next week.

Non art related. I’ve been digging though all the games I bought during a Steam sale. I have just played one of the strangest looking games ever. It’s caled Zeno Clash. The artwork and design of this game is so different compared to most fantasy games. It’s a interesting blend of Streets of Rage and Hexen and Pete knows what. The monster designs are so odd, you sometimes have to do a double take to make sure you saw what you thought you saw correctly. The acting is terrible to the point of irritation unfortunately. In fact I could barely understand the character giving the tutorial! And what do they have against chickens? Since a sequel is coming out soon, I wouldn’t be surprised if this game goes out on sale. Recommend if you want something strange and different.
Update: for some reason this never published for some reason, It remained in my drafts despite the fact that I clicked on publish. weird.
Portrait of a feline soldier some time in the future
I was looking at some of my old paintings from around 4 years ago. I wanted to see how much I have improved. I found this old painting I did of some cat guy wearing some space armor. It was OK but rather weak, It had hardly had any shading and shadows, and the little it had was off. But I liked the character, and I thought to my self, I CAN FIX THIS! Four years later, I have redone the painting. It makes me feel good that I have improved. Sometimes as a artist you just don’t notice how far you’ve gone into you look at some of your work from the past.
This is not the portrait a day but I will be uploading it in a few minutes. I will keep with the page with the rest of my portrait paintings.
Time spent on revision about 1-2 hours
Time spent on original, no clue
Original created in Artrage 2
Revision created in Photoshop

Dean and Jed 3d Models Progress so far.
I obsessively continue to work on my models for my web comic / animation project ‘Jed and Dean’. I exaggerated the body forms to be more cartoon like. I wanted them to look more like funny animals and less like petting zoo people, so I removed the pants from the models and made the lower portion animal like (a common design for funny animals). Made custom clothes for both characters, there is still some errors in the clothes but I will tweak them out eventually. Dean’s legs and hip need some tweaking. Jed’s collar needs minor repairs. I’ve also started two extra characters. Meho the gryphon and Maggie the dragon, they also need some more tweaking. Since realism is not what I’m aiming at, the models will mostly remain gradient shaded with few textures. Dean and Jed are are at a state where I can start making comics but I haven’t decided if I would be toon shading them (only if I can find a good shader), drawing by hand and using them as reference models, or just using them as-is. I also will do some animation experiments before event attempting a short.
Created in Carrara (figures, and accessories) , Hexagon (figures and clothing) and Daz Studio (posing and attaching clothing to figures, taking figures and morphing it into the model)
Time spent so far: Around 30+ hours.
