Hexel Field (Env 21)
More landscape painting experiments.
Eye of Ender is now Hexelriffic
This is a item in Minecraft you create to open a portal that takes you to the final boss. What? You thought Minecraft was just some digital version of legos that has no goals or objectives? Don’t die of shock. Minecraft’s survival mode is a full on game complete with a (very wordy and strange) ending. I made this in Hexel. I just discovered that Hexel is great for making ‘polygonal’ looking art.
Everest (Env 19)
I’ve been experimenting with a unique grid paint program called Hexels 2.5 in which you paint with blocks, octagons, and other shapes. It is great for pixel and isometric art. It’s also great for blocking in because it forces you to paint on a grid and this is effective in preventing you from adding details. After I got it blocked in, I imported the painting into Photoshop and painted the details in.

Env 18
I spend ten minutes on this and then fell asleep in my chair. Bummer.
Icy river (Env 17)
Today’s landscape painting. It’s more muddy then my previous paintings. I did add a slight bit of orange in an attempt to give the painting more life. Ref from Wikimedia Commons.
Ruined Column (Env 16)
The composition for this study is similar to yesterday’s painting but with a cool pallet and focused on a old man made column that is surround by ruins. Ref from Wikimedia
