Dragon Doodle No.3 (LibreOffice Draw)

dragon-sketch-no-3

Today I drew in an app made for graphs and diagrams, not art; and it was a very annoying experience. Every time I would draw a curve it would make it a bounding box, if I tried to draw another curve too close to the bounding box, it would move the existing curve instead of making a new one. I cant deselect the curve because it has no deselect short cut. It’s quite a pain

If you have an app you enjoy drawing with, feel free to recommend it. So far the main apps I use are Manga Studio 5 and Photoshop.

Chip Rom and Son (3d Models – ‘Pokepeople Project’)

father-kissing-his-child

Chip Rom the Zekrom and his son. Chip is a quiet and reserved person who resides on the geeky side of the spectrum. He is a single parent of a young rambunctious son, who he loves deeply. His ideal is to be a great father. The son model is based on Chip but with a much larger head with no hair. Remember at the beginning of the year I announced that I was going work on a short film parody using my ‘pokepeople’. I finally have a model finished. I need finish one more pokeperson model more before I can start ‘shooting’ the short. It’s either going to  be the grumpy dragonite or the cocky charizard (Those two WIPs I uploaded two weeks ago). retopography is not so fun.

Sangheili Bust (Elite aliens from Halo)

I spent a couple hours and made this bust of a sangheili. I’m somewhat happy with it although I think it would be cooler if I textured it.

Here is my progress on the main character model for my shooter game. There are some minor UV glitches on the wings but I should have them fixed soon.

Wyvern Hero Concept Art (Monster 22) (Project Phoenix)

This Wyvern will be the ‘character player’ of my future game: Code named “Project Phoenix”

I’ve come to the conclusion that I do my best work when a project is in mind. I will be making a very short 3d shooter similar to games like Gradius and Salamander. I’m literally ‘killing three birds with one stone’ by incorporating models I will be making as homework for my 3d classes into the models and props for the game. And since the baddies will also be monsters, I can finish my monster project with my concept art!

After the game is finished, I will make a demo reel showcasing the gameplay, models, and concept art of my last two games.

Anyways I’ve been busy with art commissions as of late, so I haven’t been able to update my blog as much as I liked. I should be able to upload them shortly.

Leviathan (Working Title) Monster AI

I finally wrote a monster AI script that I am happy with. The monster will slowly and quietly hunt the player. When the monster gets close enough it will sprint towards it pray. Since the player is unarmed,  he must run or die. In certain islands the player must stay alert so he isn’t ambushed by the creature. Currently the model is stock but I made a custom texture that is a WIP. Since I figured out how to import models into the engine, I will replace the model with a creature of my own design.

I will also programming in some code to make the monster teleport around the map, to will keep the player on his toes. I want to mention this game is NOT a horror game. It is an adventure game. The monster added an need element of danger and challenge. There will be NO cheep jump scares, the monster always gives the player a warning growl before going for the kill, giving an alert player time to escape. However, the monster could startle a player who is not paying attention to the warnings.

I will also program ‘safe spots’ that the monster will not pursue the player. These areas are where the puzzles are. This is needed because it would be very frustrating to get killed int the middle of a puzzle.

As a side note, the AI script was written in LUA. I honestly would use C# if I had a choice.
