A Penguin’s Short Slide (Short Animation)

A cocky penguin dares himself to slide off a mountain with a steep cliff edge only to hesitate when it’s too late. My first short animation in Blender.  What I thought would only take me a couple days, took almost 2 weeks.

If you enjoyed the animation, please share with friends.

Penguin Pete ( 3d Model)

penguin-rigg-test penguin

Penguin Pete is a finished 3d model that is completely rigged and ready to be animated. I am going to do a simple 3D animation of him sliding down a mountain on his belly. There will be a funny scene but I don’t want to spoil it.

I made the model with Blender.

Trickster Coyote (Monster 17)

monster-trickster-4

The trickster coyote is a popular character in Native American lore. I was going to adorn him with a more traditional Native American outfit, but I didn’t have time to research it. I probably made the face a bit too cartoony. I still like how this study came out.

Painted in Artrage, time spent: 2 1/2 hours. Note: I know he’s technically not a ‘monster’ BUT is it a creature of myth so is kinda of counts 😀

Monster Rampage (Daily Doodle 01)

4-27 UPDATE: Expanded my goals.
After a two month hiatus, I decided to get back to daily painting/stretching with a emphasis on value ,composition, adding motion, storytelling, and using thumbnails efficiently. This is to help me get past my hurdle of just being a ‘draftsman’ to becoming a good ‘storyteller’ and getting myself out the trap of drawing the same cliches over and over again . After I do a couple dozen thumbnails, I start the doodle.  Minimum time for each doodle is 30 minutes which will be bumped up to a hour in May. NOTE: These are not speed paintings, I paint at a comfortable pace. Speed paintings teach you nothing except how to be frustrated. Just say no to speed painting. When I get to the 45th doodle, I will choose my best three to develop farther.

4-20 OLD GOALS

I didn’t like the direction I was going when I started the daily doodle project. So I will be ‘rebooting’ this project and starting from the beginning. I’ve been taking my art too seriously. I need to loosen up and just have fun with drawing. No preliminary planning. Just draw what’s in my head at that moment. Value and composition will be the focus of this project but if I will not be anal about it.

Three requirements for each piece are:

1. Set a horizon line

2. pick a subject for focal point

3. Activate entire page.

4. No less then 30 minutes, no more then 2 hours.

I’m hoping that each doodle will have some sort of narrative but its not required for this project.

Time Spent: 30 minutes

I will do these for at least 45 day but will continue past that if I feel that this is effective.

I would love any feedback 🙂

Meerkat Gossip (Daily Doodle 1)

mercat painting gossip chat standing NOT timone

I did this doodle of  two meercats in a zoo gossiping.  It’s not a dragon. what else is there to do in a zoo? who knew. the cat made pancakes that are blue. in the the zoo. Did I mention that it is not a dragon? I spent 2 hours on this non dragon painting.

I am returning to my daily art thing. For 45 days I will sketch, paint, and or draw something  unplanned every day for 45 days.

The wools:

0. It must be a creature or a animal (humans included). No dragons. I paint enough dragons already.

1. 10 thumbnail sketches before you even start the painting.

2. No less then 30 minutes, no more then 2 hours.

3.Black and white only (my brain will explode if I use color at this time)

4. The VALUE RANGE SHALL BE PUSHED TO IT”S LIMIT!

The goal (in King James speak): thou get thee ideas out of head, thou practiceif composition every day, thou coverith the full value range in thou picture.

Like the last daily project I will not paint on tuesdays due to having classes all day. sorry.

Did I mention that there is no dragon in this painting?

Alex and Cruz : Comic 01

anthro furry comic humor dragon cheetah vat of cheese

Finally . The first comic from a project I been working on and of six months on.  It is a 3d rendered comic /animation hybrid (the animation will be lacking for some time). The Cheetah is a little rough still. only the dragon is finished.  The dragon is not Alex though, the alligator is. The dragons name is Derrick. I’m actually am still working on the alligator but will start using him in test renderings as well. I brought back the unicorn from the dead, and was able turn the old dragon model into a lizard chick, so I have most of the cast ready. We need to start making sets for the characters to live in My friend is helping out on the project but so far I have done a majority of the work so far. I’m positive he will be very helpful and this will become a co-op project. But just in case he does bale out on me, I have a backup plan.. removing the cheetah character. The only elements he has helped out with so far is the design of the cheetah character and this test panel. But he sounds serious in helping me make the comics , joke ideas, the stage sets and promoting the thing so I don’t think I have anything to worry about.

Jed the Unicorn

jed the unicorn. anthro unicorn happy persuasive smile

As I mentioned earlier I would be working on a new comic series. So far there is only two characters in the comic. Jed the unicorn. It is set in a modern world like our own but inhabited by legendary creatures instead of humans. The comic itself will combine vector artwork in 3d scenes.
