About the Character Every Day Projects
I will be frank, my costume designs need some focus, and I’m extremely bored with drawing stationary poses. So I decided to practice every day a character design. I found plenty of free stock images on Deviant Art provided by some very generous photographers.
I will be using these as reference when I draw. Sometimes I will do my best to copy that image, sometimes I will use the photos as a springboard for my own designs yet keeping some elements that where in the original, and sometimes I will just use the model’s pose/gesture and abandon every thing else.
What I pick depends on my confidence and my mood. A majority of the characters will be drawn using a drawing tablet similar to a cintiq. If I get brave I might use oils for some characters later in the game.
I will spend two days on each character. The amount of time spent on them will depend on my schedule and how bored I get with the painting. So every two days (excluding weekends)
Here is the first character. It wont win any awards but its a good start. This is a steampunk lady. The ref photo I based my drawing on is by Jagged Eye at deviant art. 2 hours. I will put a link when I find it again. Crits welcome.

Chris the Dragon Finished 3D Model + Scene Lighting and Animation Test
Chris the dragon is finally finished. I fixed the problem areas in the last model, redesigned the feet and legs, fixed some minor glitches in the hoodie, remodeled the hip area to be more dragon-like, repaired some minor glitches in the face but most importantly painted the textures on him. I took my time on the textures, I wanted a balance between cartoon and realism. This is probably the best 3d character I have completed so far. 3d modeling is a lot of work but you can do alot of experiments and the ability give Chris any pose and expression is so worth it. I did some test renders of Chris in his office. I also did a test animation of him walking around the room. Now all that needs to be finished is Jed the Unicorn and I will be ready to go.
Model made in Carrara, Hexagon, and Daz Studio. Textures painted in Carrara. Total Time Spent on this model: 30 hours.
