The best digital sketches I did last week on my Computer Tablet

digital doodles 6-22

Instead of loading up 20 sketches to the blog, I thought it would be more economical (and less annoying to my readers) to pick the best of the bunch and arrange them on to one page. Most are sketches of people I see around my local mall. It’s challenging because most of the time there is only a few seconds to put everything down before the person moves.

Mobile Doodles 5-27 to 5-29

Here are some doodles I did on my new tablet.

I found a extremely good deal on a 10′ Lenovo Yoga tablet with Anypen tech. It allows me to draw on the screen with any conductive writing implement. I’ve chosen a HB graphite pencil because that is what Lenovo recommended. To my surprise, there is no residue or scratches left on the screen after regular use. While it’s no iPad Pro and has pressure sensitivity, I still find it amazing. It feels like I’m drawing on paper because I’m using a real pencil on the screen! It’s a very cool tech.My only complaint is that the tablet’s odd shape makes it impossible to find a case for. I might review it at a later time.

Dragon Mage Artist (D1)

dragon artist warriorI was messing with a character generator and decided to sketch the result. A dragon mage artist person. Apparently he prefers casting fire spells instead of breathing fire.

I starting up the dailies again for the million time and pray that life doesn’t put wrench it in. To make dailies doable this time I will only make sketches. If I get into a drawing or painting, that’s fine. But as long as I can spend 30-45 minutes drawing something every day, I will be content. No 3d dailies as they just take too long.

Character 2.5 -Movember Barbarian (Wip 2)

Since I wont have access to my drawing tablet until tomorrow. I decided to refine the doodle I did yesterday. When it comes to drawing with lines, nothing beats a pen and paper. No tablet can get the definition a quality ballpoint pen or marker can get. The only downside is if you make a mistake, it is nearly impossible to conceal. For example, I messed up on the upper left strap, its was a little out of perspective, but I cant fix it. I attempted to ‘hide’ it by using the shadow created by the neck but It didn’t work in it’s entirety. that the only real advantage to drawing on the computer is the ease to correct mistakes. I might paint over this in Photoshop or I might move on to the next character. Haven’t decided yet.

The 21 Day Drawing Challenge: All 21 Days

I participated in Von Glitschka‘s 21 Day Drawing Challenge (http://www.lynda.com/Design-Illustration-tutorials/21-Day-Drawing-Challenge/164144-2.html?utm_medium=ldc-partner&utm_source=SSPRC&utm_content=524&utm_campaign=CD14621&bid=524&aid=CD14621). Truthfully I was hoping to upload the new challenge drawing every day, but I have been swamped with homework this month. Being the genus that I am, I took 15 credit hours at 3 different colleges. I am almost done with a 8 week psychology course, and I spend around 6-9 hours a week on the darn thing. It’s driving me crazy. So I haven’t post in a month. But I did successfully finish the challenge. I have a friend join me on the challenge and it helped a lot. I enjoyed the challenge, my only gripe is that it was supposed to be for all skill levels but my non-artist friend struggled with it, I had to help him along and teach him techniques that the videos did not mention. I actually enjoyed teaching him. However, the course made him discover that he loves drawing and had decided to continue with it, which I am excited about. I definitely will do another monthly challenge after I finish dreaded Psychology get caught up on other things. (It will be a while).
