A Penguin’s Short Slide (Short Animation)

A cocky penguin dares himself to slide off a mountain with a steep cliff edge only to hesitate when it’s too late. My first short animation in Blender.  What I thought would only take me a couple days, took almost 2 weeks.

If you enjoyed the animation, please share with friends.

The Coffee Spider Bot (Concept art)

coffespider

Concept Art for the coffee spider bot. This robot delivers coffee in seconds will satisfy all you coffee needs.

This concept art is for a 3d printing project. I needed to create a machine that would be too impractical. A ginormous robot spider that’s sole purpose is to make and deliver coffee fits the bill.

The 3d model is almost done. I will upload it soon.

I finally got my spaceship 3d printed, I will upload some photos soon.

Monster Rampage (Daily Doodle 01)

4-27 UPDATE: Expanded my goals.
After a two month hiatus, I decided to get back to daily painting/stretching with a emphasis on value ,composition, adding motion, storytelling, and using thumbnails efficiently. This is to help me get past my hurdle of just being a ‘draftsman’ to becoming a good ‘storyteller’ and getting myself out the trap of drawing the same cliches over and over again . After I do a couple dozen thumbnails, I start the doodle.  Minimum time for each doodle is 30 minutes which will be bumped up to a hour in May. NOTE: These are not speed paintings, I paint at a comfortable pace. Speed paintings teach you nothing except how to be frustrated. Just say no to speed painting. When I get to the 45th doodle, I will choose my best three to develop farther.

4-20 OLD GOALS

I didn’t like the direction I was going when I started the daily doodle project. So I will be ‘rebooting’ this project and starting from the beginning. I’ve been taking my art too seriously. I need to loosen up and just have fun with drawing. No preliminary planning. Just draw what’s in my head at that moment. Value and composition will be the focus of this project but if I will not be anal about it.

Three requirements for each piece are:

1. Set a horizon line

2. pick a subject for focal point

3. Activate entire page.

4. No less then 30 minutes, no more then 2 hours.

I’m hoping that each doodle will have some sort of narrative but its not required for this project.

Time Spent: 30 minutes

I will do these for at least 45 day but will continue past that if I feel that this is effective.

I would love any feedback 🙂

Mr.Dragon is in a rage because his favorite mechanical pencil broke in half.

rage dragon sketch mad

I been so busy with commissions and artwork for  classes as of late I haven’t been able to paint much of personal projects. I sketch with a mechanical pencil, a Zebra, supposedly best mechanical pencil money could buy… and it broke in half after one month of use. It was disappointing but I didn’t go on a rampage and set the town on fire, at least not this time. I been trying to tell stories when I draw, even if it doesn’t show in the final image. I wanted to draw a dragon, and I thought “why is he angry?” Because his favorate mechanical pencil has broken in half. How is he going draw fair maidens now? About a hour and a half to make. Needs a little more clean up. I figured out a thing I need to work on after painting this. How to be playful with my paintings and not take the process so seriously. my sketches have been more imaginative since I started this.

The Dragon Princess – Storyboard

dragon comic story humor woman tf dragon curse saved by night dragon knight relationship

This was my storyboard assignment. The goal of the assignment was to tell the story with no dialog. Pictures only. And I was limited to ONLY 10 PANELS!  The story is somewhat based on a Welsh fairy tale with a twist. I am curious how you interpret this storyboard /comic. If you have the time, tell me what you think it the narrative is. :). I noticed there is a fine line between sequential art and storyboarding. Using a fixed picture frame and seeing the picture frame as the eye of the camera takes away the complexity of panel layout and design and helps me just worry about what is important… The narrative. I will be performing a test run of ‘storyboarding’ my Alexis Hawkenstone story. Since I am such messy writer. The visual aspect of storyboarding/comics might be a better fit for my story.

Daily Painting No.96 – A Question of Balance

a question of ballance

A concept test for a class I am taking. The theme is two figures, no more, no less. I thought a great contrast would be a skinny lady and gigantic sumo guy. It’s more playful then my more serious dragon paintings. I spent about 40 minutes on it. the foot is unfinished. I was thinking of making the guy a satyr. Painted from scratch with Photoshop and a wacom tablet.
