Project Night Prototype Footage

So much work yet so much more to do.

Project night is an adventure game I’ve been working on and off for the last four months.I am creating the game with Unity using C# and Mono. All models where made in Blender. Music was made in ThumbJam and Audacity. It still has a way to go. Still has some glitches in the AI.

I have set up an official blog for the game: https://projectnightgame.wordpress.com. That’s a WIP as well.

Project Night: Monster Concept Art

Concept art of the monsters in my adventure game. The theme of the monsters is eyeballs. The theme of the environment is teeth. I painted these in Photoshop CC.

The first monster character is the Brute: a buff but slow monster that hunts you during the day, and the Chaser: A nimble fast monster that hunts you down at night.

I’ve already have made the 3d models and are now in the game!  I will upload them to sketchfab soon as well as some in game footage of the prototype.

Waterfall Concept: Project Night(D34)

waterfall

Some more concept art for my Project Night project. I was thinking of a waterfall /oasis like area in the mountains of the desert. I haven thought of what events would happen at the waterfall yet.

Project Night: Ruins Concept art (D31)

ruins-concept2-phatend

Some concept art for the ruins area of project dark. I’m debating if I should give it a jungle like environment or not. In old jungle ruins you see those large vines that take over buildings. I would like to incorporate that into the level if possible but I don’t know if I have the main power to make them. I drew a bird/lizard like creature because my brain wasn’t up to drawing a person tonight. Honestly for the world, what needs to considered is the fauna and flora in the world. It needs to be just a little exotic but still grounded in our world

Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough (D9)

ornstein and smough.png

These two odd looking characters are mid game bosses in Dark Souls 1 and are IMO the most difficult boss battle in the game (unless you’re playing as a sorcerer then it becomes the easiest boss battle in the game). This is my third playthrough and it took me an hour of practice to beat them (obviously not playing as a sorcerer). The lion dude is the pain due to his ninja like agility but fatty is easy because you can spam him with arrows.

Deathwing (Daily Artwork 2)

See the 3d model in real-time: https://skfb.ly/JAVN

Today’s daily is sculpt of Deathwing from World of Warcraft. One of his unique features is his metal mandible.I decided to look up the official concept art for the dragon and try my hand at sculpting his head. Some adjustments had be made after an hour in I discovered that there where some alterations to the official model and made adjustments to match. Some versions show him with more rivets on the lower mandible, some don’t. After a hour and a half, my PC crash and I lost about 15 minutes of work and decided to just upload my last save.

I might polish the bust and texture it in the future.  Time spend 1h 30m

Alptraum won a prize at the “2015 Indie Game Maker Contest”

happy monster alptraum

Last month my game Alptraum won a prize at the ‘2015 Indie Game Making Contest’ (Humble Bundle and Degica Inc (Game Dev Fort)

Alptraum won “Best game made with GameGuru” http://contest.gamedevfort.com/page/winners

I am surprised and very honored to win this prize,  this was my first finished 3d game. I made most of the assets and learned scripting in Lua, designing the levels, even writing the soundtrack to the game.. in three weeks.

Modeling, rigging, and importing a 3d game character into a 3d game for the first time was a challenging and rewarding part of the project.I was determined to finish this game, staying up to 3-4 am almost every night until the game was done.

At first the game play was going to be ‘Myst with a monster’, but due to time restraints the game play became more like an ‘arcade Slenderman.

You can download the game at:
http://gamejolt.com/games/alptraum-nightmare/88796#!

Alptraum is about 20-40 minutes long and completely free with no DLCs and IAPs! Windows 7-10 and a decent video card is required for best performance.

Special thanks to my family for their support, my friends JD and Dan for testing the game, Degica and Humble Bundle for sponsoring this annual contest, and The Game Creators for making the GameGuru engine.

Wyvern Hero Concept Art v (Monster 22) (Project Phoenix)

wyvern-concept-mid-painting-attempt4-pose-altered

I wasn’t happy with the last version, it was bothering me. I had to sleep on it to realize my mistake. The lighting is screwed up. Also, wings are usually more translucent. These mistakes where fixed. I’m still not %100 keen with this painting.Wished that I had made the pose more lively, but It should work fine as a ref for my 3d model. I want to make a more dynamic illustration of this critter if I can get the chance.
