Garchomp Trainer with Mega Garchomp

chip-and-garchomp-5

A garchomp trainer with his mega garchomp that he is training to be the very best that ever was. (Mind Blown.. not really) The trainer (who is a odd combination of human and garchomp) is named Chip. The trainee is named DurthMetal890 and his EVs are not even maxed. I was painting with dried brushes to give it a more ‘non digital’ look. Also garchomp because I haven’t typed garchomp in this description enough. This is a strange picture and I have no clue why I painted it but there is probability a pun hidden somewhere. Garchomp.

Artist as a Lemur and Garchomp on Phone

Warm up sketches I did a couple days ago. Returning to the sketching style I love to do. I learned how to sketch dynamically after taking Peter Han’s sketch workshop years ago but apparently this last year I went back to my old drawing habits which I’m not too fond of. Using tone paper allows me shade easier as well make highlights and back lighting more apparent

Various Paintings and Drawings

First Drawing was a commission to draw a person’s  crocodile sona

Second Drawing is a rejected character drawing  for  my CTNx portfolio

Third Drawing is myself being a downer. Garchomp.

Forth drawing is a crappy painting with Ho-oh, Entei, Suicune, and Raikou that I spent way too much time on. I pushed anthropomorphism of these characters a bit too far this time.

Fifth drawing is also a commission of a buff night fury family based on a client’s dream.

Lokochomp (Daily Monster: 01 out of 30)

Daily-Monster-01v2

Hello. It’s been a while since I did a project on this blog. I thought I would do  more realistic goals, instead of ‘paint a painting everyday for a year’ goal. I only made it to four months and I was exhausted. For the last couple months I’ve only worked on two paintings. I was stressed out and basically gave up on painting for a little while.

I wanted to try my hand at a shark like creature. I was inspired by Garchomp and the Loki warframe. I didn’t paint the water reflections or bubbles because It’s almost three in the morning and I need to go to sleep.

As I mentioned I am taking a online painting workshop called “The Magic Box” being tought by the ex-Disney character artist, Chris Oatley. It’s a challenge course that I feel very behind on the assignment (A ‘fancy animal’ painting), even if it’s ‘at your own pace’. However; I’ve kept up on the lectures. I’ve learned so much. The lessons on atmospheric perspective, masking, and detail/texture alone has made the course worth while. We start landscapes next months, I’m really excited.

I need to apply what I’ve learned so I decided to ‘get back in the grove’ by painting monsters and characters for thirty days. I can’t guarantee that they will be hyper detailed or finished but they will attempt to apply what I learned in the lessons. This is a realistic goal, that I know I can do.

Link’s Mis-Adventures (Legend of Zelda Parody Animation)

Link confesses his love for turtles. The short film also features a garchomp (pokemon) and the old man that gives Link his sword.

This was my third animation project. The focus was Lip-syncing. . I tried 3 types of lip syncing

1. Replacement animation by switching mouth parts in and out.

2 using a jaw like henge. and

3. using the puppet tool for a ‘mouthless’ character.
