Icon commission of a owl wearing a gas mask. It was a fun concept to work on.
For a couple weeks I did a Pokemon icon a day as a warm up and then used the icon on certain social networking sites, it surprising caused confusion with some people. I then realized that it would have been better to draw the entire Pokemon and not just the head… and i got bored with drawing ‘just’ the head
If you curious which pokemon is which, starting left to right: Arceus, Charmander, Dialga, Lugia, Pikachu, Electroid, Treeko, Dragonite, Torchic, Palkia, Yeventail, manectric, Keldeo, and finally Kyurem.
My favorate icons of the bunch is Dragonite, and Kyurem
Yes, I am a hopeless nintendo geek.
Various Icon’s I have been painting for the last week. The Kangaroo Icon was part of the Commission I had done recently. The dragon is my icon. These are sample icons, please do not use them.
Sorry, I’ve been neglecting my blog. I was busy with commissions for the last few days. I wanted to do some concept art for Alex and Cruz. A comic my friend and I are working on.We are shifting from ‘anthro’ animals to ‘normal’ ones. My friend Cruz needed a head shot of his character for the comic. I thought I would do a bust for each. Although the final designs will not be as details as this. I enjoy painting details, It’s very therapeutic. Currently Alex is a white dragon, but I have been on the fence about making him a golden dragon. For both characters, I used reference images of my friends and my own face to attempt to inject as much of our personalities into the characters . the eyes will probably be bigger in the final designs.
Update: Decided to add the fangs after all. Found the area between the fills and the edge of the dragon’s mouth too empty, added more horns in that area. The snout was too long, shortened it.
It’s been a bad day. I had to rush my grampa to the ER. He is doing OK right now. It’s wasn’t fun. I played too much Super Hexagon in the waiting room, trying keep calm. I now can close my eyes and see imprints of a hexagon and walls. I needed a new icon. And of course it’s a dragon (heaven forbid if I ever use a gryphon icon like I originally intended to for this blog) I tried using a image of a incomplete 3d model I was working on, but it just didn’t scale right. I drew this for my daily painting quota as well. I should have drew some fangs coming out. oh well, a missed opportunity. Painted from scratch from my imagination ( I should have used a ref of a lizard of something) using Photoshop with a wacom graphic’s tablet. NOTE: This icon is solely for my blog and social media sites.
