A bunch of low poly 3d models I made for practice. I was inspired by the Animal Crossing games but wanted to make original characters in my own style. The shark is my fav of the bunch.
I’ve decided to do dailies again. My minimum goal is a month but I will be happy if I make it beyond that. My longest daily spree was three months two years ago. As for the characters some will be original characters in my head, others will be inspired by video game and book characters. I might interrupt it to do a couple landscape drawings/ paintings now and then.
1. Clean line work – It should be ready to color or paint if I decide to in the future. The line work must be clean enough to chop up if I want to use it in a cutout animation.
2. Interesting poses – While quite a few characters will be just standing, it would be good to experiment and do more action poses as long as it doesn’t distract from the design or make it difficult to understand.
3. The character’s design must tell some sort of story, even if it is generic.
4. A background if it will improve the concept or if I have time..
A rough for a logo I’m designing for my business cards and the title card for my video games. This is supposed be be a rough of it but I like it this way and might use it as is now.
It’s a redder chibi version of my dragon/gator alter ego Alex drawing something off screen .
Painted in Artrage 4, I forgot how awesome that paint app is.
Being an artist is a struggle sometimes….
Sometimes out of boredom and amusement, I will draw myself as different creatures. In this picture he has no wings because i just wasn’t in the mood to draw them. I drawn him a couple times in the past. I named him Chip.
I spent a couple hours on this sketch . Photoshop
I just realized I dressed up Alex and Chip in the same outfit and in a similar pose. I think I’m loosing it.
I really wanted to draw one of my favorite old characters. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you have probably seen him a few times. I went out of my comfort zone and massed (aka blocked in) the shapes without a preliminary line sketch
1+ hour of work which I am ashamed to say is the most I’ve spent on a daily so far this year. Drawn in Manga Studio as always.
I also have a girl named Alix and a dragon named Alex… I need to come up with better names for my characters. Maybe I can rename the gator Chip or something.
Also, what do you think of the redesign of the blog?
This was a parody Pokemon character I made for a comic project I was working with some forum friends. I call it a ‘pokeperson’ and is similar to the Latios Man concept I drew a month ago. But now it doesn’t look like the project is going to happen now. Ive been using the portrait as an avatar on some social sites I hang out at.
This music should be an accompaniment to the painting.
I painted this in ArtRage. I really dig the program for this quick painterly style paintings. The only thing I miss is the mask tool, there is a way around it by using stencils but it is very cumbersome. Still a great tool that lets me be loose.
