I like to doodle and paint dragons. When I have artist block I usually will quickly paint one out of my head .
One of my favorite and most expressive dragon sketches. I would love to make this a finished painting in the future. Artwork is copyrighted by me (maugryph)
The first landscape painting I did earlier this year. only used pixel brushes but painted it in a high resolution. This is when I started to experiment with different pallets
The dragon heard the warrior approaching from behind. He doesn’t look too happy 😀
This was originally going to be the daily doodle for yesterday but It went beyond a doodle. I just get caught up in things sometimes. I trying to let my line work do most of the work this time. I tried a experiment to render it further to making look more like a painting but it didn’t work. It failed so I wasted two hours, with frustration. So I went back to this version and finished it off.
Photoshop, 4 hours (6 hours total with my mishap)
Feedback is welcome, let me know what you think.
The finished picture. It’s more cartoon then I was anticipating. This anthropomorphic dragon is named Flyer, It was the first name (if you can call it that) that popped in my head. I spent 4 hours on this, more because I was doing experiments with coloring him in Photoshop more then actual drawing time. I drew the lines in last. It’s gave the painting this interesting ‘borderlands’ style look. I’m going to try my hand at some quadruped dragons. Just to expand my horizons.
Time spend 1 hours drawing, 3 hours coloring tests in Photoshop.
