Still working on this. It’s been hard to focus the last couple days. I will attempt to finish it tomorrow.
Note to self: starting with a big brush and after every pass shrinking the brush size by half a very effective method. Last brush size is 10
Another rendering test. Painted it entity with just the soft round brush. I also added a faint noise texture. The round brush is not good for details, especially scales, the image still feels a bit ‘blurry’ to me. So its best to start out blocking with soft round and then switching to a harder brush like charcoal. I didn’t do any smudging as the soft round is pretty good at it’s name (being soft). Time spent 2hrs (1hr painting the image, and 1hr messing around with the colors : Painted in Photoshop. Any feedback is welcome.
Another color painting experiment. Named this dragon Grinder. Tried different proportions. I noticed that biped dinosaurs had thick long legs and shorter arms. I thought I would try it on a dragon. Naming it Grinder was just random. I like my original black and white drawing better.
Painted in Photoshop.
Speed environment painting 3. This could be a contender for a finished painting yet I still have 27 to go, that might change. I enjoyed painting the mountains and the crow. This painting is far from finished, yet I like that you can indicate a human structure with just a few strokes. Like the birds flying around the castle. it’s just a few dots.
Technically this was environment painting 4 but yesterdays attempt to paint a environment painting was so bad I decided to save your eyesight by not showing it. I’m pretending day 3 didn’t happen and moving on. Drawing a midnight might not be the best idea 😀

Non art related: Anyone remember the game Earthbound? Nintendo is finally going to re release it on Virtual Console at the end of the year for both US and European markets. Of course they said that they where going to do that a few years ago. It would be nice to play it, hopefully Nintendo will live up to it’s promise this time.
This is what the game looks like. A Dragon Quest like RPG game set in the Modern World
3d model WIP model for Cruze that ‘other’ protagonist. Cruz is the more spontaneous, easy going type compared to Alex who is all ‘Serious Business'(I can’t believe I quoted a meme, no wonder I am forever alone 🙂 ). In the design process I decided shorts would be the best choice for Cruze to wear, because my friend, rain, snow, or shine will be wearing shorts! His ancestry must have polar bear genes. The shoes are place holders and will be changed.
Time spent 2 hours.Created in Hexagon, Daz Studio and Photoshop
I painted this in Artrage. I figured out how to used the watercolor brush but halfway decided I didn’t like the look of it so I switched back to the oil brush. There is some mistakes, I made the nose a bit too long. I choose yellow as the color to paint with, it made me look like vampire so after I was done painting it I opened it in Photoshop and adjusted the hue of the painting to have a more natural flesh tone. . And it looks more like a young version of my dad then me. I still liked how it came out though.
Painted in Artrage with a Wacom Tablet then minor fix in Photoshop

I was almost tempted to give this post the title ‘Self Portrait as a Alligator’ to continue my silliness from my last post but decided against it.
Speaking of silliness: Deviant Art has now jump started a new dating service called ‘Deviant Heart’: A dating service for artist. This has to be a April Fools joke.. I hope..
Just kidding :D. The name for this painting is ‘Later Gator’. Originally this was going to be a portrait of a alligator similar to the crocodile portrait I have painted before. But after a frustrating start I became silly and got .. carried away. That cheesy B-Movie ‘Alligator People’ was a source of inspiration. Like my vignette background?
Here is the reference I used for the alligator head. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:*Big*_Walking_Gator_at_lake_Woodruff.jpg. The reference for the hoodie was one of my own photos.
